CERTIFICACION RAINFOREST ALLIANCE

This is a socio-environmental seal that, among other specifications, allows us to sell the coffee produced on this farm at a premium. But, with this, we are committed to using it in social and environmental improvements. Between them, we can mention the equalization of wages between men and women, provide water to all our workers, equip them with the necessary protective equipment when applying agrochemicals of minimal toxicity, among many other benefits for employees and the community itself.

With this certification, for our production under international and socio-environmental standards, we are positioned in a niche of specialty coffees. The cooperative's own farms are certified from the 2004.

Each certification is valid for three years, but annual audits are carried out. The first is the certification audit, in year zero, and the second are annual to evaluate if we exceed the indications of the first audits.

COMPLIANCE.

Certification is put at risk if we do not meet certain criteria, and with one that we fail, they take it from us.

Working on a certified farm is a change of culture. Before, for example, farm workers looked at a snake and killed it. Not now, better scare her away and keep the ecosystem balanced. That women and men win the same is another important change.

In the year 2002, when coffee prices hit their all-time low of a century, many producers chose to withdraw from the activity. We, committed and work needs, we venture into the acquisition of these goods, which constitute a strategic asset to mitigate productions, prices, shipments, regulate wages and lead gender equality in the region. These farms, like Finca La Montaña, are certified under the Rainforest Alliance Seal, the same as the Hive Benefit, place where certified coffee is processed; thus avoiding mixing it with generic coffee to make it transparent. Today in these farms wild flora has proliferated, avoiding the use of illegal pesticides and hunting and cutting of trees are prohibited, all with the purpose of bequeathing to future generations an environmental awareness.
